The greatest source of mercy Allah SWT has given to mankind is Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, 'the mercy to the worlds'. Allah SWT informs us that He perpetually sends blessings unto the Prophet ﷺ while His angels continuously pray to Him to do so. He then commands the believers to engage in this angelic prayer saying, "You who believe, ask (Allah) to send blessings upon the Prophet and ask [Allah] to grant him peace." (Qur'an 33:56)
Scholars explicitly state that our sending prayers upon the Prophet does not benefit him, since he will always be the Beloved of Allah and His most perfect creation. Rather, our invoking blessings upon him only benefits us, and us alone. This book endeavours to elucidate those benefits.
Set in English translation with accompanying Arabic script, this collection of forty hadith on the Virtues of Sending Prayers on the Prophet is compiled by one of the foremost judges, Islamic jurists, lovers of the Prophet ﷺ, and spiritual scholars of the recent-past, Imam Yusuf al-Nabhani. It is a selection of Imam al-Sakhawi's masterpiece titled al-Qawl al-Badi' and includes the importance of sending peace and blessings on the Prophet, the linguistic and spiritual meanings of 'peace' and 'blessings', the Prophet's hearing and responding to this greeting, and much more.
